COMMUNITY CHARTS, USED WELL

AniList Top 100: how to choose your next anime

AniList’s Top 100 is a community chart. It can help you discover highly rated editions, but it is not a beginner’s watch order or a guarantee that a title matches your mood.

Check the exact edition before choosing

A chart can place a final season, sequel film or later story arc beside a standalone movie. Those entries are not interchangeable. A high position does not mean you should skip the earlier story. Read the edition name, open its title page and identify whether it is an entry season or a continuation.

Choose a kind of evening, not just a rank

A long battle adventure and a quiet romantic movie can both receive strong community responses while demanding very different commitments. Start with a genre or format you already enjoy, then use a chart to find candidates within that mood. A list of scores cannot choose your tolerance for violence, pace or emotionally difficult subjects.

Ratings, popularity and our editorial picks are different

A community rating measures responses from that platform’s users. Popularity describes a different form of audience activity. Neither is a representative US viewing total. First Frame’s themed top-10 lists instead explain why a story fits a particular request, where to begin, and when another choice may suit you better. Their numbers indicate editorial order, not a copied AniList score.

Use this practical route

  1. Open the live chart at AniList if you want their current positions.
  2. Check the exact season or film rather than following a familiar franchise name.
  3. Compare the candidate with a focused First Frame genre collection.
  4. Open the title page for its starting point and official catalogue search, or save it for later.

What we do—and do not—copy
